The human ear is composed of several different parts which work together to convert the sound waves into messages that the human ear can make interpretations. The sound waves are converted into electrical signals that are received by the auditory nerve. Sound enters through the air canal to hit the ear drum which vibrates to send signals to the inner ear bone, the bones translates vibrations into ripples in a fluid of the cochlea. The ripples in the cochlear fluid stimulate the hair cells of the inner ear that triggers chemicals generating an electrical signal that is then picked by the auditory nerve and transmitted to the brain in sounds that we understand.
Hearing aids are made of five parts ,a microphone, battery , receiver , microchip and amplifier. The microphone receives sounds from the outside world and turns them into digital signals for the microchip to process. Microchips can be customized so as to fit the user better, not that all hearing loss is not the same. The amplifier then takes the digital signals and makes them louder and stronger, the volume at which the sounds can be received can be altered to the comfort of the user. The role of the receiver is to turn the digital signals into vibrations the ear can understand. There are different types of hearing aids that suit the user depending on the needs and serve specific roles.
